Little bit of history
Vernon Kilns produced its distinctive "Vernon's 1860" tableware pattern between 1944 and 1954, offering a collection of brown transferware china with nostalgic images hand-painted in color under the glaze. One of the best-known of the mid-century California potteries, Vernon Kilns closed for good in 1958 and their molds were sold to Metlox and Poppy trail. The "Vernon's 1860" pattern is known for its graceful lines and intricate designs and it is very collectible.
